Abortion has been recently brought back to our attention with all the hype that the subject is receiving from the media. Because of the good record keeping, we can tell that

abortion has been around for many years. In long ago times, if the abuse that women received in her abdomen did not kill the unborn child, then a long, grueling ride on horse back would cause the death of the unborn fetus. Also, because of the shortage of food and water, tribes had to leave the area where they were staying. These long hours of riding horseback would cause the mother to have the unborn baby prematurely. The baby was either left for dead or killed by another tribe member. This would be very hard on the

mother, and in most cases this type of birthing process would kill the mother.

Custom Essays on Abortion: Right or Wrong

Many people feel that abortion is an act of murder because of there religious beliefs or because of their morals and values. In the Bible it states, Before I formed you in the womb I knew you.-Jeremiah 15. Pro-life supporters have often based there argument on this particular scripture. Unborn life is seen to be equal that of born life.

The Jewish faith generally teaches against not only abortion, but also infanticide, which is defined as the act of killing an infant. One exception might be that the continuation of a pregnancy poses a risk to the life of the mother.

There are many different options besides abortion. One option the mother has is to put the child up for adoption. This would benefit the parents of the child, who might not be able to take care of the baby for whatever reason they might have. Also this allows the child an opportunity to grow up in an environment that they might not would have been able to if they would have stayed with the birth parents. This is a good method because this allows a family that might not be capable of having a child of their own.

Another way of trying to avoid abortions is planning the pregnancy. This would allow the parents to gain enough funds to support the new member of the family. This would also help the parents not only get financially stable before the unborn baby arrives, but they could also emotionally prepare themselves for the birth of their new child.

Another way of avoiding abortions is increasing the availability of contraceptives. A large amount of Americans do not have access of funds needed to obtain any type of

contraceptives. Although now, in certain areas places like the local Health Unit provides free condoms to anyone who ask for them.

Sex education in schools and communities would lower the abortions in America. Education on such topics as how reproduction works, how their own bodies work, and how to prevent pregnancies. By doing this, students could get the correct information they need about sex and the importance of sex education. Some people may think that sex education will increase the sexual activity among teenagers, but actually this allows them to see that it is perfectly fine to wait until they are ready instead of letting peer pressure influence them. This would be a lot better for the students to receive the information they need instead of getting it through watching television, music or their

peers.

In married couples the best way to avoid having to deal with abortion is sterilization, because it offers the best protection against unintended pregnancy. However, sterilizations are permanent. This is the only method so far that is known to be 100% affective, but this method is offend times not used because of the fact that this

method is not reversible.

There are many reasons women have abortions. One of the reasons is that the pregnancy is unplanned. Although some women can get over the fact that something has happened in their life that is unplanned, others may not be able to get over the initial shock of having an unplanned pregnancy.

The age of the mother whether it be young or old may have an affect on if the mother has an abortion or not. Each person has their preference as to what age is too young are too old to have a baby, so it is left up to the individual person.

One of the major reasons that a woman might have an abortion is because drugs, alcohol, and/or raped played a role in the conception. The women may be unable to remember the sexual encounter. Also if the mother is addicted to drugs or alcohol this can lead to very serious problems during the pregnancy or after the baby is born. This can

lead to serve medical problems. If a the person is in the middle of there academic career, whether it be high school

or in college, then they may not be willing to take the time off needed in order to have the

baby. Educational and career opportunities play a major role in a woman considering having a baby or not.

If the mother has no means of taken care of the baby financially then she may consider having an abortion. She may not have assistances from either the babys father

or his or in some cases her family. This is actually looked upon as a way of being unselfish in a way. The mother is considering the well being of the child. She may have

thought long and hard about this procedure before she actually goes through with it.Although these reasons are not all of the reasons women have abortions, these are

some of the main reasons. Other reasons might include the woman is mental incapable of taking care of herself let alone a child of her own, if the parents know the child has a serious birth defects that is going to cause the baby death after they are born, or while

they are in the womb.

I feel that abortion is totally against everything that I believe, not only morally, but in the religious aspect of it as well. After I conducted the research for this paper an I

saw the reasons for both sides, pro-life and pro-choice, I came to the conclusion that there are some legitimate reasons women haves abortions, just because they do not want there baby. Many times that is not the reasons they have the abortions.

There should be more sex education taught in the school systems. This would not only educate the students, who are sexually curious anyways, but it will give the teens the

right information they need, instead of learning everything about sex from either a friend of what they hear on television and in musical lyrics.

The Holy Bible (New International Version). Jeremiah 15 p.4.

Vaudville, the term, refers to American variety entertainment. However, actual vaudeville refers to variety entertainment consisting of short acts such as acrobatic turns, song-and-dance numbers, animal acts, and light or comical theatrical pieces. It was predominately white and especially popular in the early 0th century. Since it placed together musical numbers as well as theatrical acts, vaudeville could be considered the first step towards musical theater. It was the begining of the evolution from Vaudeville to Chicago, Rent, Les Miserables, Ragtime, and many other musicals in modern times. It was also the door for true black entertainers to work their way up into being predominate acts in Broadway and become respected for their talent. Vaudeville also left the stage open for precision line acts, which are still visible and seen in many Broadway shows, such as the Rocketts and Las Vegas Show Girls.

Many of these acts were created by either a dance director or a choreographer. Many times they are confused to be the same but there is a definate difference. A choreographer creates the actual dance steps or moves and usually has a background indance of previous formal dance training. The teach the dancers the movements that will be performed. A dance director creates the lines and formations of the dancers while sometimes giving instruction of which dance moves to perform. Unlike a choreographer, they do not create dance movements, instead they use simple movements that have been used in opther productions and change the sequence so it appears to be different.

I am interested in becoming a sports announcer. I have been a sports fan all my life. I enjoy going to games, reading books about sports and watching ESPN every chance I get.    Broadcasting involves writing, informing, entertaining, and educating people about specific sports. Statistics is certainly is important in sports reporting. Batting averages would be a good example of the use of math in sports. A batting average is the number of hits divided by the number of times at bat. For example, if a batter had only hits when he was up to bat 5 times, to figure out his batting average you would solve the following problem divided by 5 = .4. So the batter would have a .400 batting average. This is simple arithmetic. Being a sportscaster is a career that probably involves using a lot a simple arithmetic. Your college major would be communications, radio-TV, or journalism, but you also need a physical education minor. If you wish to become a well informed sportscaster, the P.E. training offers important foundations for both major and minor sports.    Once you are involved in broadcasting, you need to practice constantly. A portable tape recorder can help you out greatly you can practice at a little league, a high school or college game, by calling the play by play. You can even turn down the TV sound and do the play-by-play calls in your own house. A sportscaster starts at the bottom. This allows a new announcer to make mistakes in front of the least critical audience. You need to listen to sportscasters, but dont try to copy them. You need to come up with your on style. Becoming a sportscaster involves a good education, lots of preparation and hard work. So, you really need to enjoy your job.

Review

Frankly speaking, I was not much attracted to read this book. First, it was because of its unappealing cover. Then, it was of course because of its classification and last but not least, because I knew it would not be my type of book that I would like to read. I had that kind of 'sixth sense' in me. But somehow, as a trainee teacher in English, I have to read most of the novels and classics in the stores right? So I started it of with this book. And my, am I not dumbfounded to discover the speed of my reading. Not only did I not have a single feeling in me to engross to this book but my 'record player' in my brain was not functioning at all as I was not able to picture the story even in a slightest way. I used to read and was able to see the scenery there in my head of the trilogy The Lord of The Rings, completed it in months time and believe me, the books were twice or thrice the size of this. I wondered why it did not work here.

To Kill a Mockingbird started off with the protagonist, Jean Louis Finch, telling us of her family members and also their history in the town of Maycomb, Alabama. Her ancestor, Simon Finch, was a fur-trapping apothecary from Cornwall whose 'piety was exceeded only by his stinginess.' He 'paddled' through Alabama when General Jackson 'ran the Creeks up the creek.' He practice medicine but was unhappy of the 'persecutions who called themselves Methodist' and so, forgetting the thoughts of his teacher, bought three slaves and 'established a homestead on the banks of the Alabama river. That homestead was named Finch's Landing and made a living out from cotton. It was made a custom that all the men have to stay in the landing and worked in the land for survival.

Forward to the twentieth century, Atticus Finch, her father, was said to be the first to break it when he left to study law in Montgomery while his younger brother, Jack went to Boston to take up medicine. It was only his sister, Alexandria remained in the landing and 'married a taciturn man who spent most of his time laying in a hammock by the river wondering if his trots lines were full.' Jean Louis or better known as Scout in this book lived in the main residential street with Atticus, her brother who was older than her by four years, Jeremy Atticus or Jem and Calpurnia, a black cook. Her mother died when she was two. She died of a sudden heart attack than ran in her family. She was fifteen years her father's junior.

After reciting her whole family history which I read three times to actually understand it, she started her adventure of life by first meeting her fianc, Dill. Mind you, she was only about six upon meeting him and secretly betrothed to him at about eight. No one knew anything about it but Jem suspected something between the both of them. Dill or Charles Baker Harris was a year older than Scout and was a very curious boy. He was from Meridian, Mississippi, and came to Maycomb for each summer to stay with his aunt, Rachel. He gave me an impression that he was a boy that bound to create trouble for his naughtiness and 'daredevil' behaviour. He even dared Jem to walk into the Radley's resident even when both Scout and Jem warned him not to mess with that family.

Like many stories, there would be a suspense or mystery in the plot and this time around, the limelight went to the Radleys who not only had no contact to the outside world but also was rumoured to be cursed and many speculations of evil things happening to the people of Maycomb had something to do with them. I seriously grew a bit bored of the storyline despite of the suspense having injected in the story. It beat around the bush and was so confusing that sometimes I had reread it again to gain understanding. Too troublesome, too confusing and too slow of a plot. I guessed that was what made my reading slowed down to a surprising speed.

It was not later that Scout was able to go to school. In school, she was warned by her teacher, Miss Caroline Fisher, a lady of Winston County from North Alabama, to not let Atticus teach her to read. She said that it would interfere with her progress in her learning. I did not agree with the teacher for not letting her learned from her father. I believe a strong basic is always needed to ensure that a principle or a complexity of one field will be able to master and also to apply to our daily life. Thus, Scout had the right to not only learn the basic of knowing how to read but also to let her father to teach if he had the time and effort to do so. Furthermore, the teacher would not be able to focus on each student in the class to input the basic of reading. I myself was taught to read and even write before I started my kindergarten.

With the line of '" Your father does not know how to teach "' by Miss Caroline not only showed that she did could not be bothered of Scout's feelings but also easily irritated when a child bides for understanding. One day, Miss Caroline had wanted to lend Walter Cunningham, a farmer's son who not only had little to eat but also never took anything that they would never be able to pay, some money for lunch, scout filled her in on his family custom. But before she was able to explain further on his reasons for not taking her money, Miss Caroline punished Scout and sent her to the corner of the room. She gave me the impression that she wanted everything to work out her way. Not only did she not surveyed the customs and way of life of each student in her class but was a bit ambitious to change and trained them under her own learning system. That caused stress in her and was proven when she 'sink down into her chair and bury her head in her arms' as told by Scout.

Truth to say, I do pitied Miss Caroline for all her effort in teaching was a bit wasted. I do understand that it was not easy teaching young students but as a good teacher, she should bring down her level to that of her students so that they will understand and respect her. No point going all high up and almighty in systems and rules when a simple communication between the child and the teacher was not practiced.

It has taken me a while to realize what an extraordinary influence my best friend Crystal has been on my life. Not only has she been a friend, but Crystal has influenced me in many ways, mostly because she's smart, compassionate, and courageous.

Crystal has always been very smart. She excels in school, and even received a full ride scholarship to college. I have always been able to turn to Crystal when I need help with school, and when I was questioning whether I wanted to go back to college or not. She was the one who encouraged me to with her good advice. She's not only school smart, she's work smart also; Crystal was very motivating at work. We worked together for one and a half years and between the two of us we could solve almost all our problems. In addition, when I would get distracted she would help get me back on track, which really helped improve my work ethics. As a result of Crystal being good at school and her work it has helped her become successful in her life. She is now the manager of the financial records department of her current job. Crystal has taught me the harder I try the more I get, just by watching her through her life experiences. I only hope I'm as successful as she has already become.

Another great attribute about Crystal is how compassionate she is. She works full time, and goes to school full time, but regardless of how busy she is she always has time for others. Crystal has two brothers and one sister she helps raise, and always spends a lot of time with them whether it's going roller skating, taking them shopping, or going to the park, they love every minute of that attention she gives them. This has made me realize that the little things can make a big difference in someone's life. Crystal is also very active in the community; she donates anything she can, volunteers for many activities such as at homeless shelters, nursing homes, and at a local elementary school. I always wondered how she did it until she took me with her. I was amazed at how appreciative the people we helped were and how great it made me feel. I am now active in the community, but still can't compare to how dedicated Crystal is to others and how compassionate she can be.

The most admirable attribute about crystal is how courageous she is. She has been faced with many challenges in her life and I think each one has made her stronger. She doesn't have a dad and this was very hard on her when she was younger. As for me, I have a dad and mom, my parents are still together, and this is something I have always taken for granted until I met Crystal and found out how frustrating this was for her. I am now very grateful for how lucky I am. Not only that, Crystal was abused throughout her childhood by her mother's boyfriend. She made up lies about the bruises, feeling she couldn't tell anyone, and nowhere to turn. I don't even know if I could have handled this, I thought my life was rough because my parents wanted me to do my homework and chores before I could go play. Even more, when she was twelve years old she saw her mother get stabbed by her mother's boyfriend. Luckily her mother survived and recovered this tragic event after months of rehab. When I asked Crystal how she survives after having so many tragedies happen to her she said, "No matter how hard you feel you have it, someone has it worse." And that is something I will always remember and live by.

Custom Essays on friendship

Crystal has influenced me in many ways throughout our friendship. She has made me more knowledgeable in school and work, she has increased my awareness in the community, and foremost she taught me to always be strong. I hope everyone has a friend to look up to and admire as I do to Crystal, everyone needs a friend to walk beside.

Raul Truisilo said that the dance maker's medium is the human body. In class we have studied the different planes the human body moves in and the bones and muscles that form the human body. I believe a better knowledge of the human body, and our own bodies in particular, will enable us to move in ways that are new to our body. One of the choreographers said that when he is creating a new dance it isn't always new for the audience, but it is always new for him because his choreography is based on a different ways of moving and experimenting with different movement combinations. When we formed into groups in class and told each other to change a movement that we've already seen before, we were using this same tactic.

I have to admire women such as Isadore Duncan and Martha Graham for their devotion and creativity in dance. They are women who wanted something different and something liberating. I think modern dance for them was an escape from their, otherwise, everyday, mundane lives as women in their times. They broke some rules, and they succeeded. My favorite aspect was their choice in costumes. They used loose clothing that moved freely. I enjoyed their break from the rigid layers of tight clothing women were expected to wear in their time. These women definitely took "everything" and added "more" to it with the intention of creating a new dance language that is still growing today.

Modern dance is "everything that has been done, plus." This is the quote in the video that stuck out in my mind the most. Everything we do in class resembles something that has been done before, but we do it in a different way or at a different speed.

The Jewish Passover ceremony commemorates the events of the Exodus from Egypt, the suffering of the people and their relationships with God who led them out of slavery in Egypt. Passover is celebrated on the anniversary of the Exodus and it is left to each generation and every family to create the total experience. The Torah states "And on the 15th day of the month (Nisan) shall be a festival". Aspects are the way in which religious traditions express itself. Beliefs, rituals, symbols, sacred texts and literature, social structure, myths and stories, code of behaviour and religious experiences are all aspects through which the tradition of Passover is shaped and formed. All the aspects involve dynamic interaction and symbiotically express the traditions' beliefs. Inherent to Judaism are certain core beliefs; such as beliefs about redemption, Gods omnipotence, the special relationship between God and Jews, Man and the natural world, as well as the belief in a universal God who is just and merciful. By constant practice of these expressions of beliefs, the Jewish people reinforce and maintain their relationship with God.

Judaism believes in the concept of redemption. This is shown during the reenactment of the Exodus in the Passover seder, most specifically when the ritual of opening the door for Elijah is performed. Rituals are the actions that follow a set pattern sanctioned by tradition and through which some sacred purpose is achieved by relating the earthly to the divine. This ritual symbolizes the hope for redemption, as Judaism believes Elijah to be the forerunner of the Messiah. This links with the aspect of the sacred text of Passover, the Haggadah. The sacred text is an authorized document which derives authority from their divine origin or inspiration and which contain some truth necessary for life or salvation. In the Haggadah it is written "Next year in Jerusalem," expressing the Jewish hope for redemption with the advent of the Messiah and the belief that God will be redeem the Jews and return them to Israel. During the seder, (the service for Passover) the belief in redemption is also expressed through the aspect of symbols. Symbols are a traditional mark, object, word or gesture, which represents some reality truth or meaning beyond itself. The symbol of the four cups of wine drunk at the seder represent the four ways God will redeem the Jews. "I will free you, I will deliver you, I will redeem you, I will help you to be my people." Ex 66-7. Thus through the people's commitment to aspects of

rituals, sacred texts and symbols of the Passover festival, Jews affirm their belief in a messianic redemption and ultimately Tikon Olam, a perfect world.

Judaism believes in Gods omnipotence. Through the mention of Gods "outstretched arm" in the sacred text of the Haggadah, Jews acknowledge Gods ultimate power and divine fiat. "And God took us out of Egypt with a strong hand and a outstretched arm". The outstretched arm is also represented by the aspect of symbols. The symbol of the shank bone which is placed on the seder plate portrays the concept of God leading the Jewish people out of slavery at his own will. His omnipotence is also represented through the myths and story of the ten plagues that God brought upon the Egyptians as punishment for keeping the Jews in slavery. "The plagues; blood, frogs, vermin, beasts, cattle disease, boils, hail, locusts, darkness and the slaying of the first born represent different aspects of Divine mastery over nature and the world. These several aspects are all traditions, which reinforce the acknowledgement by Judaism of Gods infinite power.

Order custom research paper on aspects

Another core belief expressed in Judaism is of the special relationship between God and the Jewish people. Sacred text is one aspect through which this relationship is represented. Exodus 4 "God heard their moaning and God remembered his covenant" The celebration of Passover itself as a ritual and religious experience cements the Jewish belief in a special relationship between their nation and God. "God took the Jews out of their burden, saved them from hard labor, liberated them with mighty acts and dedicated them as holy people". The experience of retelling and reenacting the Exodus story through social structure of family enables modern Jews to relive the experience of liberation from Egypt by God, to understand and feel that covenantal relationship. "In every generation, each person should regard himself as if he came out of Egypt."-The Haggadah. This highlights the convenantal relationship that exists between God and the Jews and upon which Gods action in saving the Jews find foundation.

Judaism believes in the importance of the relationship between man and the natural world. On the seder plate, the symbol of karpas, spring vegetable represents the birth of the nation of Israel and their exodus at the beginning of the season of spring. This is also symbolic as it links the rebirth of the Jews with the rebirth of nature in springtime. Jews recite the prayer for Dew "The savor of your excellence recalling Deliver us from exile we ask so we

may sing your praises softly falling as dew" as well as the prayer for vegetables, "Blessed are you Lord, our God, King of the universe who creates the fruit of the earth". These prayers acknowledge Gods creation of the beautiful world and his people. Judaism sustains the belief that man must 'till and tend' the earth which belongs to God, the ultimate owner. This statement of Gods universality is also expressed through the aspects of Passover. "Nevertheless I have spared you for this purpose in order to show you my power and in order that my fame may resound throughout the world". Judaism believes in a universal God. This is portrayed through the ritual of dipping ones fingers into the wine and spilling a drop whilst reciting the 10 plagues. This is symbolic of the spilling of the blood of the Egyptians, connoting the suffering of the Egyptians, thus acknowledging that God is the God of the world and all its creatures, a universal God.

By surveying the seven dimensions of the Jewish religion, the aspects help characterize the religion as it exists in Passover. The concept gives the Jewish people a balanced description of the movement which has animated human spirit and taken a place in the shaping of society. Though Jewish rituals and practices like these also have complex symbolism, their most powerful quality may be the most obvious. They create and invigorate connections and relationships between man and God.
