The poem First Love written by John Clare is a free verse poem whereas, Shall I compare thee… written by William Shakespeare is a sonnet where it is made up of three quatrains and a rhyming couplet at the end. The two poems share a similar theme about love where both writers talk about love with a beautiful woman. Although both poems share a similar theme, they do differ when it comes to describing in text and the way their subjects are portrayed.

"First Love" is a free verse and so it features three stanzas, each with eight lines and each line having eight syllables to balance the poem out to make it structured like a song with a nice flow and mellow. The poem is about a young man who falls in love with a beautiful girl and starts talking about his first love by describing how he felt and what he thought of her and how she responds to him. John Clare describes the physical impact of first love, 'Struck before that hour… face turned pale as deadly pale… my legs refused to walk away.' Clare describes a state of powerless caused by the theft of his heart by the girl, 'stole my heart away complete.' Senses are described to be in turmoil when it is as if he is blinded by love, seemed midnight at noonday… I could not see a single thing.' He then goes and says that things will never be the same again and he conveys this by describing his heart as if it is an independent entity which has left home and now belongs elsewhere, 'my heart has left its dwelling-place and can return no more.' He is totally obsessed with her and describes her beauty, 'her face it bloomed like a sweet flower.' But he is too shy to approach her, 'and then my blood rushed to my face and took my sight away.' How does his love react? She seems to respond positively, 'she seemed to hear my silent voice and love's appeal to know… I never saw so sweet a face as that I stood before.

But in Shall I compare thee… its more about comparison rather than descriptive feelings. The poem is structured into three quatrains and a rhyming couplet at the end. Each quatrain features four lines and each line has ten syllables so this too also balances the poem out and gives a nice flow. Quatrain one presents a question, 'Shall I compare thee to a summers day?' comparing the girl to a nice summer day. The answer in the same quatrain is that she is more lovely and more temperate.' Quatrain two continues the comparison between a summer's day and the lady, to the detriment of the summer's day. Quatrain three announces a turning point with the word "But", and describes her superiority over summer and time, 'But thy eternall sommer shall not fade…when in eternall lines to time thou grow'st.' In the rhyming couplet, it is said that she will be realised and would be seen "immortalised", 'so long as men can breath or eyes can see, so long lives this, and this gives life to thee.'

As both are poems, usually there are rhymes and rhythms to make it an artful piece of work. In First Love, it is rhymed like "abab", for example;

a) 'I ne'er was struck before that hour,

b) With love so sudden and so Sweet,

a) Her face bloomed like a sweet flower

b) And stole my heart away complete.'

The pace of the poem sounds mellow and quite fast as each sentences is short and as well as the words which too would be pronounced quicker as there are only eight syllables in each sentence. The probable reason why the poet has done it this way making it a fast pace flowing poem is because the man is describing his feelings about this beautiful girl, where the poem is related to his heart, which is beating fast as he is seeing his first love and usually that first love tend to be a sensational feeling as he has never experienced it before. So in practice as he sees this girl and describing what he sees and feels, it would be like a rush of adrenaline and out of control. The pace of the poem would be similar to the pace of the heart.

In Shall I compare thee… there is a rhythm as well like "abab", for example;

a) Shall I compare thee to a Summers day?

b) Thou art more lovely and more temperate

a) Rough windes do shake the darling buds of Maie,

b) And Sommers lease hath all too short a date

The pace of the poem sounds slow and there are ten syllables in each sentence and there are some long words. The probable reason why the poet has done it this way because the poet probably wants the readers or listeners to understand what he is trying to say and so the pace of the poem would be slow making it last longer and thus making the readers/ listeners imagine the images the poet want to them to picture in their mind.

Imagery has been used to express themes in poems and so descriptions are needed. In First Love, there is a simile, 'Her face bloomed like a sweet flower' which since this poem is about a one man first love, the poet would like the reader/ listener to understand the mans feelings as to why he likes the girl by describing her like a sweet flower and this in turn helps to acknowledge the reasoning for this. Alliteration can be found as well like 'so sudden and so sweet' and 'saw so sweet', which gives a positive note as 'sweet' is a positive word. The poet wanted love to be good thing and so used 'With love so sudden and so sweet' to create a desirable effect that love is a great thing to have.

In Shall I compare thee…. metaphors are used like 'the eye of heaven', which is the metaphor of the sun. 'His gold complexion' where the sun is personified. That means when the sun comes the clouds go and block the sun saying that the sun will not be shining all the time as for the girl she will be shining. And 'not shall death bring…' where death is personified as if about to claim her. 'Shade' suggests the opposite of the sun and means ghost or soul after death. The choice of words used like, 'temperate' (moderate; restrained; of even temper) and 'darling' (beloved; lovable) helps reader understand the poem as a whole. With all the points accounted for, the poet in First Love is suggesting that love is a wondrous feeling and can be positive but once you become obsessive about it then it can create a devastating effect on the subject and brings disappointment towards the end and find setbacks. It happened before to the poet when he wanted to marry the daughter of a wealthy farmer but he could not due to his background and this disappointment made a lasting impression. The devices/ language is used effectively and the poet got the ideas across to the reader very well, as they are easy to understand and was made simpler. Words with two or less syllables were used and the devices used were simple and thus making the reader to understand the views and concept a lot quicker. I agree with the poem where first love can be a truly amazing feeling but once you have fallen into the obsessive stage then there is no way back and you will be stuck there and depression will come which happened to John Clare when he could not marry the girl he loved and so disappointment came and depression.

The poet in Shall I compare thee…. tries to say that time is a cruel thing and tries to defeat it by making the poem sound to last long. The poet is also saying that love is immortality and that time can be defeated. She will be immortalised in the lines of the poem, which will still be read long after she dies. With love, it can last forever. The devices/ language used is effective as it helps to create an easy image. Metaphors and personification helps to create images and made the poem more understandable. My response to this poem is that I agree that time can be defeated as it can never match love. Love has been around for years and does not seem to stop. With time progressing, so will love. But I believe that love and time is needed otherwise it would not make the world it is currently is. Without time there would not be love, and without love there would not be any progression.

The socialization process is different from one person to another. It is related not only with peoples education , but also with the environment in which peoples grown up. Thus, many people enjoy to have a lot of friends. In contrast, other people prefer to spend time only with a few friends. Its clear that both options have advantages and disadvantages. Personally, I prefer to have only a few friends, but the good ones. I think that because of two main reasons that I will support in the next lines.

First of all, I prefer quality over quantity. I think that in order to develop good frienships is necessary to spend some time. For instance, I have known a lot of people during my life, but only a few of them are actually my friends. The main feature of them is that I have spent a lot of time knowing everyone. I do believe that is very important to dedicate time to enhance the relation with friends, not only because they can help yo when you have problems, but also because you can help them also. Obviously, because the time is limited, it is necessary to do a adequated election of friends.

Second, in my personal opinion, if you have a lot of friends you will probably be distracted of other important thinks that need your attention. It is related with earlier idea that having friends implies spending time. People, specially youngsters, usually go out with their friends. They go to drink, to dance, etc. If they have more than one group of frinds, they probably spend (or maybe waste) their time having fun. They probably would obtain lower grades in the school or in the university, they would spend less time with thei couples or with parents, etc. So, I think that how many friends you decide to have its a matter off priorities. The more time you spend with them, the less time you have to do other important things.

In sum, I believe that the friends are very important, but I also think that people have to be careful with the time that they spend with them. I think that if people have less friends, they will probably develop better and deeper frienships.

"I Believe I Can Fly" is one of my all time favorite songs. It is a very inspirational song. The song was written and sung by R. Kelly. The song won him three Grammy Awards. And put him on top of the Billboard Charts in 17. Here is what I interpreted from the words of the song.

The words are fairly self-explanatory. In the first verse he says he thought he could not go on and that things were not going to get better. Then he found what he had been looking for, that special something, and he realized if he could see it he could do it also. That he should believe and he could do what he wanted to.

In the chorus he talks about believing he can do anything. And he also says, "see me running through that open door." By this he means when he sees the chance to fly he is going to take it.

The second verse is also about him feeling down and out. How things can be so bad. But he sees that there are miracles he can achieve and to achieve them it starts in his heart.

This song was meant to be an inspirational, uplifting song. I think that R Kelly did the job. This is a song that can get you going when you think everything is out to get you. This is a song everyone should appreciate and learn from.

I used to think that I could not go on

And life was nothing but an awful song

But now I know the meaning of true love

I'm leaning on the everlasting arms

If I can see it, then I can do it

If I just believe it, there's nothing to it

I believe I can fly

I believe I can touch the sky

I think about it every night and day

Spread my wings and fly away

I believe I can soar

I see me running through that open door

I believe I can fly.

See I was on the verge of breaking down

Sometimes silence can seem so loud

There are miracles in life I must achieve

But first I know it starts inside of me, oh

If I can see it, then I can be it

If I just believe it, there's nothing to it

I believe I can fly

I believe I can touch the sky

I think about it every night and day

Spread my wings and fly away

I believe I can soar

I see me running through that open door

I believe I can fly.

Hey, cuz I believe in me, oh

If I can see it, then I can do it

If I just believe it, there's nothing to it

I believe I can fly

Problem

1. Define the factors that impact the success of a work team

Many factors go into the definition of our work team. In our team the members have been working together for two years so there is a bond within the team. This factor enables the team to work efficiently while having good range of diverse views. Also within the team are individuals who have been given recognition for their outstanding work. This helps the team a lot because it shows that the team is not only a strong union but also very dedicated to their work. The team is also very diverse composing of men and women as well as people of different ethnicity. The team is also composed of different religious groups. The different religious groups can cause problem sometimes because if something was to go wrong with a conversation it would ruin relationships but since the team members have been mostly been working together for quite awhile it won't affect the success of the work team. Within the team there is a wide spectrum of skills; each member is highly trained in his or her field and is eager to learn from one another. In order to perform effectively, the abilities of our members are crucial. Because of the fact that role of each member is understood, everyone has to contribute in order for a project to go on. Anything missing will be traced back to each and individual member. Having being together for two years, team chemistry is solid. Members of the teams are able to complement each other and cover up for another's strengths and weaknesses. The time together has also bought together everyone and helped establish a strong relationship bond. Everyone enjoys working together and being in each other's presence. There are three contextual factors that will impact the success of the team Adequate Resources, Leadership and structure, and performance evaluation and reward system. Because of our pass success, the company recognizes it and constantly rewards the men and women of our team. The company also makes all resources available to this team because it knows that we will make good use of it. Although there is a project leader on this team and all the other teams, this team specially is more team oriented. The majority of the time, the group comes together to make the important decisions. Once in a while and in only special cases do the leaders make the decisions by him or herself. This type of system promotes self-management and the results are so far spectacular. Also by doing so, team members assume leadership roles naturally. They are able to bear more responsibility and carry more burdens. The company, recognizing how effective this style of team work, allows the team to exercise complete control over themselves. Overall, this team has a common purpose, everyone clearly knows what he or she has to do and what goals needs to be establish to achieve success.

. Now that each team has a new project leader, describe the process of creating trust in the new leader.

A big reason why this team has enjoyed the success is its trust in each other and the leader. There are 5 key points that trust consists of Integrity, competence, consistency, loyalty and openness. Each member of the group recognized how important it is to have it in increasing measures. By transferring project leads, the director is hoping to establish the success to the entire scope of the company. Modeling after the most successful team, the director transfers a leader from the lowest performing team and transferring the leader from the highest performing. In the case of the poor performance team, the new leader is experience and highly skilled in his department. In order to gain trust in him by his team members, he should practice openness. By showing them that he knows what he is doing, members will follow suit and learn from it. The team leader should be fair to all and not favor one over another. Let them know that each member is a crucial part of the team and let them contribute to the team. To be a good leader, one must be able to relate to his members. By sharing feelings, fellow members will better relate to the leader and will be able to bond with one another. A leader must always start out with the truth. Everyone all know too well the story of the boy who cried wolf. One must also be consistent in what they say. A leader is one who is constantly standing up for his values and beliefs. Members will see that in a leader and put their trust in him. They will depend on their leaders more they see that the leader is consistent with his beliefs. Leaders who make a promise and fulfill it will command great respect from his followers. These leaders are ones who are confident in what they say and do. By maintaining confidence in yourself it will eventually trickle down to the team members. They will believe in themselves knowing that they can rely on the leader when necessary. A leader is someone who can step up when necessary, one who will fill in the gap where there is. By practicing professionalism, you show your members that you have the ability to lead. By practicing these key points, everyone in the team will gain trust in their leader.

. What are the models of leadership to quantify the skills of a leader?

The Fiedler Model-

The quality of a leader is determined through a measurement of his/her style or personality at managing. A leader can be one who is concerned for production or concern for people and even be a combination of the two. The Fiedler Model attempts to assess a leader's ability using the least preferred co-worker questionnaire. The questionnaire uses 16 questions to determine the style of a particular leader. Then it matches the leader with the three situational factors

1. Leader member relations

. Task structure

. Position power

According to the findings, the concern of leader for production and/or people determines how strong he/she is in the three situational factors. Studies show the concern for production usually leads to unconcern for people and vice versa.

Leader participation Model

The leader participation model seeks to describe leadership behavior in relation to vary demands for activities. The founders of the model, Vroom and Yetton, provided a set of rules that identifies 5 alternative leadership styles. Recently the 5 styles were expanded to 1. The 1 styles determine the characteristics of a leader, where or not he/she makes decisions by him or herself or with sharing the problem with the group.

4. The Director made the abrupt decision to transfer the project leads. What does this decision tell you about the power in the department?

The power that the director is exercising by changing project leads is largely legitimate power. The director is in a higher position than the leaders of the software teams and has authority to change leads whether or not the leaders like it or not. The director has some expert power provided that he has years of experience in the field. However, the field of technology is constantly changing and while he specialized in it, his knowledge is no longer as applicable as it once was. His hope for better production is a legitimate one. In the current and expanding state of the software division and company overall, it wouldn't be too much of a risk to do so. With any luck the outcome might likely be very beneficial on the long run. Since our teams are mostly self-managed, there is very little coercive power. Teams themselves decide on who to hire and how to implement their work. Although the director is much higher up in the hierarchy, the way the company is structured, team members have no fear of getting fired or their salaries being reduced. There is also no reward power, rewards and recognition are decided by team and leaders rather than director is executives. While the teams are closely knitted, there is very little inter-organizational relationship in the company. Employees do not have a strong relationship than with those in their own and neighboring teams. Thus, there is also very little if not no referent power at all.

In the play Macbeth, written by William Shakespeare, Macbeth dies due to fatal flaws that existed within his mind. Macbeth's ambition seemed to be too much for him, he was too easily manipulated by his wife and the witches, and the intervention of the supernatural also contributed to the fall of Macbeth.

Macbeth was deceived by his own flaws, the main problem being his ambition. In Act 1, the witches tell Macbeth that he will one day be King. This event sparks the ambitious desire sitting in the back of Macbeth's mind. In Act , Macbeth becomes extremely determined when he sees the ghost of Banquo and he becomes insecure. This results in Macbeth's private world colliding with his public world. In Act 5 his ambition has reached its peak, and he is now entirely decisive about his evil actions. It is clear to him what he has done, and will do. He now sees the folly of unbridled ambition. This clarity of mind brings Macbeth to realize what he has done, and ultimately he is able to see that his death is nigh.

Macbeth is very easily manipulated by his wife and the witches. He is quickly persuaded without a second thought and influenced by the beauty of his wife and by his own ambition. In Act 1 when Macbeth is told that he will be King by the witches, he feels compelled to live up to the premonition. Banquo has second thoughts about the witches and doesn't believe what he hears. He becomes suspicious, and he can see that Macbeth is more susceptible to this persuasion than he is. When Lady Macbeth receives the letter from her husband explaining what the witches told him about becoming King, she devises a plan immediately. Macbeth arrives at home, and she tells him what he must do. This time he considers what he is doing with more care, but he is still convinced. He cannot see the evil in his wife, for it is covered up by her beauty and grace. In Act 4, Macbeth willingly goes to see the witches (at which point his ambition has almost completely overtaken him) about what is to happen to him in the future. They tell him that 'until Birnham Forest moves, you will live in peace'. He takes this the wrong way without the consideration that it could be a trick. He doesn't pay attention to the fact that what they have said sounds highly suspicious.

The intervention of the supernatural into Macbeth's world made a large impact on what was to happen to him. The witches deceived Macbeth, and sparked the desire that was waiting in the corner of his mind, into believing that he was to become King. This alone was enough to stagger Macbeth, and thus he did not think twice about what they had said. In Elizabethan times, witchcraft and sorcery were considered to have existed, and to have been dreadfully evil. One who practiced this type of magic was seen as wicked, and sentenced to death. So, in effect, Macbeth has committed two death-deserving crimes in the one play. Of course today, such a punishment for the practice of magic is not nearly as severe, but in those times people didn't know what to think of it, and so they believed that the death sentence was the appropriate way to deal with the 'problem'.

Write my Essay on What accounts for the tragedy of Macbeth? for me

Macbeth begins the story as a great man, but eventually loses his mind and becomes wicked. There are mixed feelings about Macbeth as the play progresses. Some may feel sympathy, some may feel disgust and some may feel pity for the once great man that fell to his own ambition. By the end of Act , Macbeth is a symbol of evil he is no longer conflicted, but an object of fear. He is entirely decisive, and has complete trust in the witches. Macbeth can easily be seen as a disgusting, loathsome man, with no morality whatsoever. However, pity may be the most common feeling for Macbeth by the end of the play, as we see a man who loses everything and whose awareness for what he has become is too late. Macbeth has in fact ultimately fallen to his own ambition, and when he finally realized, it was too late to have done anything about it.

Something dramatic happens to girls in early adolescence. Just as planes and ships disappear mysteriously into the Bermuda Triangle, so do the selves of girls go down in droves. Mary Pipher, PH.D, is the author of Reviving Ophilia-Saving the selves of Adolescent Girls. The books main theme goes through the cycles of how it is to be a girl, and the issues that young women go through. Pipher goes through personal stories from females as well as factual research to backup her arguments. Also, she takes a look at how adolescence is is not what it used to be. Adolescence is no longer a time of endless days spent outside with a glass lemonade and a smile extending from one ear to the other.

One of the main points Pipher talks about is how the girls are caught between their physical, mental, and emotional development. Many girls appear to be grown-up, in the sense that their looks resemble that of how an adult would look. While this is true, its certainly just a front, because personality and looks differ on many levels. Pipher stresses emotional maturity very strongly. In many studies, the girls who are having troubles with their parents, friends, or schoolwork is due to them not being able to display or control their emotions. She states that adolescent girls are similarly drowning in confusion, as they try to sort out details in their life, and decide who they really want to please. Much of a young girls life revolves around impressing others around her, or trying to fit in. As girls get older, they get more and more influenced by the media, and what is in. This often ends up lowering a girls self-esteem, because she is not being her true self, and its hard for people to see her inner self shine through.

Drugs, sex, violence, rape, crime, and so on. The list is never ending. As girls go from pre-teens, to teenagers, life takes on a new meaning. More privileges are available, which also brings along more responsibility. When these mix together, it can be hard for girls to handle. As girls get older, the amount of pressure they are under increases. Pipher mentions some girls feelings, and how they are afraid to go to parties or date, because they fear rape or having sex when they are not ready.

Lord Byron introduced readers to the Byronic hero in his poem Childe Harold's Pilgrimage. While Lord Byron first denied that Childe Harold was based on his persona, those who knew Byron easily recognized the similarities. To be able to see the characteristics of a Byronic hero in a poem or story one must know the Byronic characteristics. A Byronic hero is normally seen in a male Romantic character and made famous by Lord Byron, who often had similarities to the characters in his poems. This Byronic character will have a combination of many characteristics and is usually considered a rebel. The character is unusually handsome to both the male and female gender alike. He has been wounded or disabled in some way, for example, Lord Byron had a clubfoot. His passions run deep, encompassing sexual, emotional, and intellectual depths, which are superior to the common man. There is often a guilty secret for which the Byronic hero feels remorse for; this secret is often related to some unnamed sexual crime. Despite this remorse, he is usually unrepentant and rejects society's values. This rejection of society will leave the hero in an exileeither self-imposed or imposed upon him by societythus keeping him wrapped in a mysterious cloud of the unknown. All of these characteristics combine to create the Byronic hero who compels an attraction from his audience and leads us to wanting to know more about him, thus I will examine the first thirteen stanzas of Childe Harold's Pilgrimage and examine the Byronic characteristics as they appear in the poem.

In Canto The Third, the first stanza, the hero is saying good-bye to his daughter, whom he hopes to see again. The lines "And then we parted, not as now we part, / But with a hope. " shows the hero's exile, for he does not wish to leave his daughter (4-5). The reader is not sure if this exile is self-imposed or not as the hero leaves his daughter, but the line "When Albion's lessening shores could grieve or glad mine eye" shows that the exile is both self-imposed and imposed upon him by England (). Albion represents England who is both grieving and glad the hero is leaving, yet the "glad mine eye" can also represent the hero's joy of leaving a possible unaccommodating society.

In Stanza II, the exile can still be seen in "Still must I on; for I am as a weed" (16). The hero describes himself as a weed and a weed is an undesirable plant amidst beautiful flowers. Seeing himself as so different from others will also force the hero to stand on his own, thus isolating himself even more from society.

Part of his isolation is due to the fact the narrator sees himself as different, often being moody, mysterious, or hiding a dark secret. This is seen in Stanza III "The wandering outlaw of his own dark mind;" shows that the hero is aware of his difference but is unable to do anything about it (1). He is an "outlaw"unwantedin his own mind. He may be describing his mind as dark since he is hiding a sin related to some unnamed sexual crime.

While the hero is isolated from society, he has had many "young days of passion" showing that people are drawn to him (8). Stanza IV continues by telling the reader that the hero has his "heart and harp have lost a string," and "sung to sing, " meaning he has had his share of lovelost and foundand it has all been passionate (, 1). But the hero is unrepentant "Of selfish grief or gladness" and is glad to have loved whenever he could (4).

The Byronic hero also offers no excuse for his intellectual capacity and feels that he is superior to the common man. This is seen in Stanza VI where he states "'Tis to create, and in creating live / A being more intense, that we endow / With form our fancy" (46-48). He believes that what he creates will live on with out him when he says, "What am I? Nothing but not so art thou, / Soul of my thought! With whom I traverse earth" (50-51). He knows that his writings have a merit of their own and his name is second hand to the work.

Stanza VII brings the reader back to his life of passion. In "My springs of life were poison'd," the Byronic hero possibly laments the memory of an unnamed sexual crime or wrong which could have been done to or by him (60). Yet he is still unrepentant when he states "And feed on bitter fruits without accusing Fate" (6). Our hero is dealing with the hand that fate has given him without seeking forgiveness or giving forgiveness.

This deep secret leads the narrator to brooding in Stanza VIII. The hero has been "Wrung with the wounds which kill not, but ne'er heal" (68). His wound is his dark secret and while he does not blame Fate, his wounds will never heal. Depending on the local gossip, this brooding could make our hero a figure of repulsion or of fascination.

This brooding once again brings the reader back to our hero's unnamed sin in Stanza IX. "Still round him clung invisibly a chain / Which gall'd for ever, fettering though unseen, / And heavy though it clank'd not; worn with pain" shows the extreme guilt our hero feels for this unmentionable sin (77-7). This guilt or unrepentance effects everything our hero does and touches. Yet his day-to-day life is even better than the common man's life because he is experiencing passion, even if it is of the negative kind.

In Stanza X, our hero remains aloof from society. He is "Secure in guarded coldness" and kept an "invulnerable mind" from society (8, 85). He is self-reliant and has no need to depend on a society who doesn't want him. But the Byronic hero does not mind because he prefers his status as a rebel because of the freedom it allows him. He is free to wander as he wishes.

Yet our hero reminisces a little about the past and maybe feels a little remorse in Stanza XI. "Yet with a nobler aim than in his youth's fond prime" shows our hero wanting to live a nobler life than he had in his youth (). While he is not really remorseful, he is aware that he has not lived an ideal life. Yet, at the same time he is still the arrogant man who knows he is "once more within the vortex," and is capable of handling it (7). He would rather live a life with remorse and fame (maybe infamy) than not to have experienced the passion, which brought him that remorse.

For the Byronic hero knows "himself the most unfit / Of men to herd with man; with whom he held / Little in common;" and Stanza XII shows us a man who knows he is better than the common man and will not hesitate to tell society (100-10). Our hero is also still a rebel despite his foolish youth. "He would not yield dominion of his mind / To spirits against whom his own rebell'd;" shows that he will not bend to society's whims, but will stand on his own (105-106).

The hero who has little in common with society will find himself exiled from the same society. In Stanza XIII our hero is left free to wander. This can be seen in the line "He had the passion and the power to roam" (11). Our hero prefers to wander and to find passion wherever is journeys may take him.

The Byronic hero in Childe Harold's Pilgrimage is a character that shows many of the Byronic traits. Our hero is a male and a rebel. His passions run deep, encompassing sexual, emotional, and intellectual depths, which are superior to the common man. There is the appearance of guilt for a secret, likely some unnamed sexual crime. Despite this remorse, he is usually unrepentant and rejects society's values. This rejection of society leads our hero into exileboth self-imposed and imposed uponthus keeping him wrapped in a mysterious cloud of the unknown. All of these characteristics combine to create the Byronic hero who compels an attraction from his audience and leads us to want to read more about him, thus helping him traverse the earth.
